Tras los atentados que tuvieron lugar en el oleoducto Caño Limón-Coveñas en los últimos días, Ecopetrol dispuso más de 120 trabajadores para realizar las labores de limpieza del Pozo Azul, Caño Cinco y los ríos Tibucito y Tibú, que resultaron contaminados por los derrames de crudo resultantes del siniestro.
Para atender las emergencias se han destinado seis puntos de control alternativo que se encuentran distribuidos en Caño Cinco y los ríos Tibucito y Tibú, con 76 líneas de barreras que buscan contener la mancha de hidrocarburo.
Uno de los puntos que ha recibido atención especial es Pozo Azul, cuyas aguas se tornaron negras pese a ser el principal atractivo de este lugar, que se caracteriza por ser un emblema turístico del Catatumbo, según agregó la información.
Frente a los hechos que se presentaron en la zona, el presidente Iván Duque se pronunció a través de su cuenta de Twitter y destacó que los crímenes a la biodiversidad deben ser castigado severamente al atentar contra los recursos de la nación.
A su vez, Ecopetrol reinstaló los puntos de control alternativos Tibucito y Samanes con un total de 24 barreras, luego de que las lluvias del martes destruyeran los elementos de contención.
Las labores de contención contaron con la visita del viceministro de Ambiente, Roberto Esmeral, así como del director general de la Corporación Autónoma Regional de la Frontera Nororiental (Corponor), Gregorio Angarita Lamk. Ambos funcionarios estuvieron acompañados del Ejército Nacional durante la evaluación del impacto ambiental en la zona afectada por los derrames de crudo
Estas acciones terroristas, que dejaron alrededor de 30.000 habitantes privados de acceso a agua potable, se atribuyen desde el Gobierno a la guerrilla del Ejercito de Liberación Nacional (ELN). Por su parte, Ecopetrol hizo un llamado “para que cesen estos actos violentos que atentan contra la integridad de las personas y dañan gravemente los recursos naturales de la región”.
Los atentados ocurrieron durante el cese unilateral del fuego por parte de este grupo, que se habría propuesto con motivo de la Semana Santa.
